The Transition form Painting to Fibers

Fiber Art, hand weaving

Fiber Art, hand weaving

The process begins with choosing an already fallen branch and selecting yarn from the scraps my knitting friends have given me. As I weave, I do it with intention–thinking of what I am trying to reason out.

Each weaving has a story to tell or a job to do. Just as a dream catcher is intended to catch bad dreams, my weavings have a purpose as well. It may be to convey a story or idea, but often it is to protect my thoughts from self doubt, or if intended as a gift for a friend, it maybe created as a good luck charm of sorts.

Similar to a prayer shawl, the weaving is meant to bring peace to the home it hangs in.
